MPM Equestrian to host John Mullen Memorial Cup in a One Day Horse Show

23Jul12

Sunday August 11, Prize money all to winner of €500

MPM Equestrian will host the inaugural John Mullen Memorial Cup on Saturday August 11, 2012. This One Day Horse Show is in memory of the late John Mullen co-founder of MPM Equestrian. This show will consist of five classes, an 80cm class, a 90cm class, a 1m class and the John Mullen Memorial Cup Class of 1m10 with a prize of €500 to the winner and a schooling course of 1m20, time allowing. There will be prizes for all the classes.  A professional course builder will build the course for this Memorial Show in order to ensure a top class course.

MPM Equestrian, the Baltinglass based equestrian yard, is a full services livery and teaching yard. It provides livery, lessons and treks, as well as unregistered show jumping for both horses and ponies. This yard is run by Eddie Macken trained Elena Pothmann, who is also fully BHSAI qualified and the owner of horses such as Flex and Echo I Love You.

Elena decided to host a show where the prize fund is significant and not split between winner and runners up. ‘Times are tough and everyone wants to compete for something worthwhile, I also think John would approve because he loved horses so dearly but also understood the everyday costs of supporting them’.

Entries are on the day. The 80cm class begins at 10am, followed by the 90cm, then the 1m and then the 1m10 class. There will also be a schooling class of 1m20 after the 1m10 time allowing. Entries cost €18 for the 90cm, 1m and 1m20 classes (or two rounds for €30) and €25 for the John Memorial Cup(1m10). Parking is available onsite. There will be food available there on the day and Hoofprints will also be there to record the jumping.
