Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 70,000 customers, today announced that poultry processing leader MoyParkhas deployed Infor10 EAM Enterprise. The enterprise asset management solution is set to go live across 13 sites, helping to reduce production downtime and purchasing costs, boost productivity and deliver better financial control.

News

Moy Park Ltd isNorthern Ireland’s largest food processing company, employing over 8,500 people.

EAM Enterprise will initially be deployed to manage all non-inventory assets, valued at a total of approximately £17,000,000.

The solution will be rolled out across 13 sites inNorthern Ireland,England,Wales,Scotland,France, and The Netherlands by June 2012.

MoyParkpreviously used Infor EAM MP2 in a few sites, but will upgrade to EAM Enterprise to deliver greater consistency across all international operations, and support rapid growth.

With over 20 years of enterprise asset management experience built in, EAM Enterprise embraces the procurement, finance, inventory, and equipment maintenance functions atMoyPark.

EAM Enterprise will help deliver an improved analysis of the engineering department’s spending. This will also help to measure suppliers’ performance; cutting the costs of procurement for the business; and further streamlining purchasing processes.

The solution will increase the efficiency of maintenance by improving the analysis and reporting of asset condition by symptom, the reason for failure and work order type. This will enable the engineering department to reduce downtime by better scheduling proactive maintenance.

EAM Enterprise will help deliver more effective system reporting; better system management; superior user control and a more open interface to other systems thatMoyParkplans to deploy.

MoyParkalso plans to implement Infor10 EAM Asset Sustainability in the future in order to reduce energy consumption throughout the business.

“We are ever mindful that in a sector as global as ours, there is always someone ready to take advantage if we don’t stay ahead in every respect of our operation,” said Conor Thompson, IS programme manager, Moy Park Ltd. “As part of our drive to have the best production facilities in the world, our use of Infor10 EAM Enterprise will help MoyParkkeep its edge over the competition.”

“Keeping a constant watch on asset condition and performance, evaluating data to find key trends and anomalies, forecasting performance concerns, and making decisions that drive action are the hallmarks of an asset management strategy that gets business done faster,” said Grahame Done, global product marketing director for EAM, Infor.

“Through applying Infor10 EAM Enterprise across finance, procurement, IS and engineering departments,MoyParkis set to achieve a significant ROI and a wide range of operational benefits. Less downtime, streamlined procurement and better integration to other systems mean that Infor10 will helpMoyParkmaintain its competitive advantage with speed as well as scale.”

“We started introducing gluten free cakes and dishes to our restaurant’s menu a couple of years ago, following demand from the public. Almost any of the cakes from our dessert menu can also be ordered specifically to be made gluten-free,” he explains. “It is important we cater for people with allergies at the restaurant and the themes chosen for the cookery classes are also reflecting that.”

Infor10 Motion™, Including Infor10 Road Warrior™ and ION ActivityDeck™, Provides Faster, Easier and More Consistent Mobile Access to Business Applications

Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 70,000 customers, today unveiled Infor10 Motion, the company’s unique, cloud-based mobile platform built on the powerful Infor10 ION integration framework. Infor10 Motion applications provide fast, reliable connections to back office systems regardless of location through smartphones and tablets, such as iPhone and iPad, to accelerate productivity and help users work smarter and faster. Differentiated from complex and convoluted mobile platforms, Infor10 Motion provides a consistent user experience, a loosely coupled architecture, and a simple and easy process for deployment.

Infor has immediately made available two applications, Infor10 Road Warrior, a mobile CRM application with embedded business intelligence, and Infor ION ActivityDeck, which allows users to respond to important tasks, receive real-time alerts, and approve pending requests.

“To keep up with the increasingly mobile world, companies need to empower their workforce with tools to stay informed and take action from anywhere,” said Duncan Angove, president, Products and Support, Infor. “Infor10 Motion breaks down the four walls of the office, bringing it to where your customers do business – on the road, at the airport, wherever the opportunity exists. Infor is changing the way our software is used and managed by providing mobile development tools and foundation services that enable our customers to use mobile applications, like Infor10 Road Warrior, across the extended enterprise.”

The Infor10 Motion Platform

Infor10 Motion is built with a loosely coupled architecture on the Infor10 ION framework, meaning that Infor10 Motion applications can plug into different back office systems such as ERP, CRM, Expense Management or Supply Chain Management. Unlike the tightly packaged solutions in the market today, which often require customers to buy more products in the hope of extending solutions, Infor10 Motion provides native, rich applications that leverage the data that already exists in enterprise deployments. Security is built into Infor10 Motion to help address the threat of theft and data loss and enable customers to retain control over critical business data.

Infor10 Motion applications leverage the familiar, simple and intuitive ways that users are already accustomed to interacting with their smart devices, allowing them to work and act faster. This includes taking into account differences between devices such as tablets vs. smartphones. Because it is core product independent, Infor10 Motion is able to adopt a consistent user experience across back office applications.

Infor10 Motion applications are further differentiated by being “app aware,” which enhances the user experience by detecting when another app on the device could provide additional functionality, including consumer apps that would work in the context of the enterprise. An example of this is Infor10 Road Warrior, which incorporates Skype and FaceTime within a customer’s contact record so sales personnel can move seamlessly into consumer collaboration tools with their customers.

Infor10 Motion is cloud-based, which uniquely simplifies the way customers can deploy and adopt the platform. The Infor10 Motion App Manager (IMAM) provides a single location for companies to deploy Infor10 Motion applications quickly within their existing IT infrastructure, unlike other mobile platforms which require an add-on solution to centralize the effort of multiple deployments. Once a company has gained access to IMAM, they are ready to begin using Infor10 Motion applications. IMAM also allows managers to determine which users have access to specific information, and the capability to change those settings at any point.

Infor10 Road Warrior and Infor ION ActivityDeck

Infor10 Road Warrior empowers sales productivity by sending mobile alerts, approvals and tasks, allowing users to make decisions faster, turning what was previously considered down-time into a tool to outpace the competition. This connectivity is coupled with embedded business intelligence to provide an overview of data-heavy screens, helping users make sense of data more rapidly, highlight problems at a glance, and compare current and historical order volume, reducing the amount of time spent searching for information. Additionally, integrating with consumer apps like Skype and FaceTime helps Infor10 Road Warrior users better collaborate and communicate with their customers.

Infor ION ActivityDeck helps solve the critical problems that arise when users are on the road and have no visibility into pressing issues going on in the background. ION ActivityDeck provides users the ability to remain connected to the back office so they are able to respond to important tasks, receive real-time alerts, and approve pending requests, keeping business in motion. Similar in function to Twitter, ION ActivityDeck provides the ability to define filters based on most anything, helping users answer questions and take action before they become issues.

Infor10 Road Warrior and Infor ION ActivityDeck are available for secure installation through the Apple iTunes Store. Additional Infor10 Motion applications are expected this year to serve a variety of critical office functions such as creating orders or quotes, approving expense reports, and reviewing key business metrics from anywhere.

On Friday I tweeted that it made as much sense for the Irish people to repay unsecured bond holders as it did to ask my neighbours to repay my mortgage. East Coast Radio rang me and asked me to repeat this on air. I did and ranted in general. Then I discovered Vincent Browne’s televised question of the Troika. Is there a movement happening? Are people starting to ask the same question? Does the emperor have any clothes?

Today, I wrote to the Irish Times asking the same question. I wonder if we, the people, will be heard.

Sir, -

Vincent Browne led the way last week when he asked the question of the Troika on behalf of the ordinary people of Ireland: the taxi man, the teacher, the postman, the plumber, the unemployed, the person in the street. Why on earth are the Irish people repaying the debt to unsecured bondholders on behalf a defunct bank? Why?

It is the same as my asking my neighbours to pay my mortgage. You may have heard of me. I’m the divorcee who sold her house on youtube, only the banks stopped sale. I have a debt of one million. I did share it with my ex husband, but he went bankrupt in the UK and gave all the debt to me. I am fighting hard on so many fronts to try and extricate myself from the mess that I find myself in, but I have never yet asked my neighbours to bail me out.

Maybe I should insist my neighbours bail me out, it’s the same logic after all.

Yours etc

Moscow Flyer, a racing legend, equine celebrity, and IHWT ambassador, has generously donated his stable at the Irish Horse Welfare Trust Centre (IHWT) where he spent the last 7 years in active retirement, so it can be used instead to stable neglected equines in need.

Jane Mysercough Chairperson of IHWT, explains: “Moscow Flyer trained by Jessie Harrington, became an integral part of our charities team making many public appearances as our Equine Ambassador, over the years, championing our call for improved Equine Welfare in Ireland.

He embodies the bold and brave spirit of our organisation and his presence around the yard will be greatly missed. We are however simply delighted that Moscow has this unique opportunity to take up residence at the world renowned Irish National Stud. IHWT would like to acknowledge and thank John Osborne and the Irish National Stud for their support.”

John Osborne, generously offered Moscow Flyer to spend his active retirement at the prestigious Irish National Stud based in Co. Kildare. Home to many of world’s greatest Thoroughbred’s, including Invincible Spirit, Big Bad Bob et al the stud is recognised for its distinct national importance and contribution in promoting our rich equine heritage, valuable bloodstock industry as well as being one of Ireland’s most successful tourist destinations.

John Osborne “We are all delighted to welcome Moscow Flyer here to the Irish National Stud where he will take up residence with our other Living Legends Florida Pearl and Vintage Crop. Moscow will no doubt be a massive attraction to all who followed him throughout his exceptional career and invite everyone to come and visit these superstars.”

While Moscow is in residence at the Irish National Stud, he will continue to fly the flag as an equine ambassador for the IHWT which the National Stud are in full support of.

Moscow Flyer’s career started when trainer Jessica Harrington sharp eye chose him out of hundreds of horses at the sales as an unknown 3 year with his Moscow giddiness and energy, Jessie Harrington quickly spotted potential and gave Moscow the chance to prove himself, and both never looked back.

Moscow Flyer a handsome bay gelding, was a legendary National Hunt horse over distances between 2 miles and 2½ miles (3.2–4 km). During his racing career he won the Queen Mother Champion Chase in 2003 and 2005, the Tingle Creek Chase in 2003 and 2004 and the Arkle Challenge Trophy in 2002. He was trained by Jessica Harrington and Barry Geraghty was his jockey during almost all his successes.

IHWT believes that his move to the Irish National Stud is a wonderful opportunity for Moscow to be able to be part of a new story at the Irish National Stud and to be a showcase of excellence for Irish Horses and the stud, as well as continue his very fitting role as IHWT’s Equine Ambassador.

Moscow Flyer can be visited at the National Stud and we would encourage everybody to go and pay this wonderful equine a much deserved visit “adds Mysercough

We’ve had it before: Aliens versus Predator, Cowboys versus Indians, even more recently Cowboys versus Aliens, but where there may have been some doubt as to who might win in those films, when it comes to Horses versus Machine Guns the answer can only be a very chilling and upsetting one.

War Horse, derived from a novel by well known children’s author Michael Morpurgo, has been turned into a big screen adaptation by Spielberg. Maria @mgolpe and I were lucky enough to be invited to the Irish Premier of the film in the Savoy Theatre on Thursday 12 January. We were representing the Irish Horse Welfare Trust (www.IHWT.ie). It was a great honour to be invited especially as we discovered we had ‘reserved seating’ in the theatre. This basically allowed us to take pictures and chat with some of the celebrity guests without worrying about finding a seat in the amphitheatre.

There were some big names in racing, Ruby Walsh and David Russell and friends. There were some big names from television, Gary Lydon, Gaybo, Joe Duffy and Glenda Gilson.

Martin King from TV3 was there and he told me that he’d seen me on the bookclub on IrelandAM (http://practicepr.wordpress.com/2012/01/10/my-watch-is-trending-on-twitter/) but he didn’t mention my watch. Maybe that was because he’d brought his young son with him.

Jillian tells Liam Cunningham all about the IHWT

Liam Cunningham, actor and the surgeon in the film, was also on hand with his mother. He was terrific in the film, but also as an ambassador for the film. Beforehand and afterwards he was very patient, entering in photographs for fans and talking to everyone. He very kindly agreed to pose for a photograph with me taken by the resident Practice PR photographer, Maria. He even listened politely as I spoke a little bit about the charity.

The film itself was good. Maria and I did not cry, although we had stocked up on hankies beforehand. We did laugh quite a bit though which was a pleasant surprise. There are a few harrowing moments in the film. It is always harder to see animals, and especially horses, hurt than humans, especially soldiers. Horses are no match for machine guns, nor barbed wire, not mines, nor sheer brutal working. One of the scenes reminded me of prisoners being forced to work on the TransSiberian Railway, only watching horses being mistreated is more upsetting than watching the same treatment being doled out to prisoners even. It is not that I think horses are more important than humans, just that seeing them ill-treated or even being killed is somehow more upsetting than watching the same for humans. It’s like kittens or puppies if you get me. Anyway, there are some upsetting scenes, but not too scary for children or horse lovers.

On the long journey back to the sticks after the film, Maria and I agreed we had thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The only criticisms were in the beginning and the end. We definitely liked most of the middle. The beginning was a little mawkish, too sentimental and awkward. The young boy’s relationship with the horse was too glitzy. It was more like how one imagines a growing relationship between a boy and puppy, than a boy and colt. Also, the boy’s love for Joey (the horse) was a little too romantic and doe eyed. Too many wide eyed shots of the young man made us feel uncomfortable. Then again at the end, the final home coming shots reminded us of Gone with Wind and all that colourful sky stuff and silhouettes and poses. I understand that Spielberg was shooting in digital for the first time and it kind of showed. Less red sky next time please Mr Spielberg.

Finally, we discovered that in all some fifteen horses were used to represent Joey in the film. That explains why in some scenes he looked little more than a pony and in others, he seemed a full horse. Or perhaps it was just the angle.

Our verdict? Great film, well worth seeing and don’t worry tissues are optional.

This morning was my debut appearance on IrelandAM’s book club and we were discussing City of Bohane by Kevin Barry. It was a great experience and I met three very different people, strangers, who were gathered together to talk about the book.

Ok, I have to confess now that I spoke about the book as if everyone had already read it. I was engaging in typical book club commentary. So if you have not as yet read the book, City of Bohane, do not read on, do not look at my clip on TV3 and do not follow me on Twitter!

Yes, I spilled the guts of the story on television. The book is a tragic-comedy. The hero, or perhaps the anti-hero, loses everything in the end: his wife, control of the city and even some of his trusted friends. There, I’ve said it. You should have read the book before you joined my own little book club! That will teach you to be lazy and only half read the book before you come for the chat!

I wonder will I be asked again? Maria, who is the other half of Practice PR, has just said I am the worst book reviewer, EVER. And she’s not joking. I said she would read the book for the language alone, but she is not convinced.

Then in another twist of fate, I appeared on Twitter but not for my book spoiling techniques. The cameraman very kindly used a close up of me holding the book as a promotional shot. I was holding the book and it was clear to see. So too was my rather large watch. Oh? Yes, you are right, I forgot to mention my ample cleavage was front and centre of the shot. I almost missed that.

Of course, some of my Twitter friends did not. One kind sir (and you know who you are @SimonPRepublic*) posted a Twitpic of said shot. Next minute, everyone was talking about my large watch. Someone thought it might belong to Georgia Salpa. I can see a new career for me now, a TV Double for Ms Salpa’s watch, nice work if I can get it. Another observer thought the cameraman had picked that shot to prove that glamour models can read too. I was going to suggest that intellectual women have breasts too, but given that I gave away the plot, twice, I can only muse rather lamely that women have breasts too.

As I am always on the look out of ways of making money and saving my bacon, I have decided to launch a new premium rate TV programme, called #BabesReadBooks it will feature hot ladies reading intellectual books. What can I say? It’s bound to be a sure fire winner!

The Money Shot (this is the funny shot)

IrelandAM Bookclub (this is the actual TV clip)

*When @SimonPRepublic posted the Money Shot he had no idea it was me. I just happened to spot it and told him the watch belonged to me!
